On the August 8, I gladly accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge following being challenged by my friend Sean Smith. After dumping the extremely cold ice water over me, I then nominated my friends Alex Sherman, Rob Barcellona, Emily Bock, Ashby Kaestner and Sophia Thomas- four of whom immediately accepted my challenge.
I loved being a part of this viral sensation to raise awareness and money for ALS that was started by Peter Frates, a former Boston College baseball played who was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 27. I know a few people that played baseball and are affiliated with Peter and I was amazed with how much publicity was generated and money raised to battle this disease.
The power of the Internet and social media is truly incredible!
